Hey there, Fit sisters in Christ!

I know it’s cold, I know the couch is calling your name – mine too! I know it’s harder than ever to workout with many of our gyms and group classes closed, and did I mention Christmas cookies. We can’t even really go anywhere and yet they’re everywhere!

The deck may look stacked against us, but God! We are not powerless in Him! He is with us on our fitness journey.

Today I’m going to share: 5 Must Know Quotes (based on scripture of course) to Power Your Fitness Journey!

Here on Strong. Confident. His. we don’t do perfect, we practice grace, and know that if we seek Him first and surrender our food, our workouts, and even what we see when we look in the mirror, we are going to be free from the dieting emotional roller coaster, the fight for motivation, and our self-view becomes a reflection of Him rather than what we want to change.

I think the best compliment anyone could ever give me is I see God in you!

Picture it how would you feel if someone walked up to you and said, “ I see God in you!” Wow!

Before I dive into today’s episode I have to share something very exciting! In less than one month my brand new faith and fitness devotional will be out! I can hardly believe it. Friends, God is so good. I want you to be the first to know, so make sure to sign up to be the first to know.

These Quotes Will Get You Full Of Godly Fuel and Fire to Power Your Fitness:

These are quotes I’ve written over the years, and with each one I will share our Biblical foundation.

What you’re going through is training for who you’re becoming.

God is preparing you, friend. Even thought may not feel like it...He’s using your current situation or struggle to strengthen you by growing you deeper and drawing you to the one and only true source of power – Him.

Picture a baby learning to walk to their sweet mama. The baby crawls and then shakily gets up, takes a step and then falls down, then pops right back up, and holds her arms out to her mom and tries again, she doesn’t quit! This is how God wants us to be!

We do our part, we keep getting back up, we go through the process to get to the next level, and He is right there holding His arms out and leading us to His perfect plan.

‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’– Matthew 25:21

Here’s another way to see this quote:

The Bible tells us that faithful over the little rule over much. God wants us to be faithful with what He gives us. If we’re not faithful with little, we won’t be faithful with more. Right?

Like one little baby step at a time, we build healthy habits and reach our fittest selves to bring Him glory!

For number two you get a two for one. I couldn’t decide, because they’re closely related.

No diet can give you the spirit of self-control only God can do that.

Our world may have a lot of answers, but it can’t give you the "want to" or the motivation, the inner power you need to go up against your toughest opponent, yourself!

But God!

Galatians 5:22 tells us, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

And of course 2 Timothy 1:7 tell us, For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of self-control.

Your weak willpower will give up and quit on you every time, but God never will!

On this earth we are never going to do what we want to all the time, like Paul, who wrote in Romans 7:15, For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.

We are just like Paul. Picture yourself standing in front of your refrigerator, you’re not hungry but you eat anyway.

Or it’s cold outside, so rather than go workout, you hit the snooze button!

It’s normal, it happens to all of us...

This is why I completely disagree with the black and white mentality of common diets and workout programs. They make it all performance-based, but we are so much more complex than that.

Once we accept that we can’t be perfect, because only He is perfect, we can lay it down and practice grace. His words strengthen us in our inner being to the point that we can say no to ourselves a lot more than we used to, but perfection is off the table.

It’s all about the Holy Spirit gift of self-control and practicing getting back up again and again in His grace!

The enemy is waiting for you to quit. Don’t do it. Don’t let him win.

John 10:10 tells us...

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

Have you ever noticed how you can just start thinking wrong thoughts? How out of nowhere you start doubting and second-guessing yourself and what you’re doing to get fit? Or what about when you’re starting to notice changes and then someone says something kind of mean to you, and your motivation is derailed.

Guess who’s behind all these lies and garbage...Yup!

It’s the enemy and he works overtime to keep us down and deceived.

But God! He gives us the victory over all of this.

When I start thinking these "stinkin thinkin" thoughts, I say James 4:7 aloud, Submit to God resist the devil and He will flee. This is so helpful. I want to encourage you to remember this scripture.

What’s even worse is when he deceives you with, oh you’re doing great, you deserve a break, and then all of this sudden you’re off track, or why are you bothering you’re not seeing any changes – it isn’t working.

Don’t let him win, sister! Learn to spot the lies and speak God’s truth aloud. You have authority in Christ.

The word of God is strength training for your heart and mind.

Just like you can’t buy a set of weights and expect them to make you strong without taking them out of the box and using them, you won’t get stronger mentally, emotionally, and spiritually without opening your Bible.

The Word of God is our inner strength trainer.

If you really want to build up your faith muscles, it’s going to require a daily commitment just like your fitness goals do and in turn you will become the strongest, most confident, fearless, joyful and most peaceful you!

Hebrews 4:12 tells us, For the word of God is alive and active.

 And 2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Trade, I’m not good enough for I can do all things through Christ!

What’s your I’m not good enough?

I don’t feel good enough too...(fill in the blank.)

  • Can’t cook?
  • Don’t want to go workout until you lose weight? (This friends is one of the most common things I hear and if we’re being really honest, it’s sadly silly, right? I don’t want to go workout until I look like I do!

BUT GOD! We have to get over I’m not good enough, because we are good enough in Him.

We have to try new recipes to learn how to cook, we have to go to the workout class to get fit.

Instead of focusing on whatever makes you feel not good enough, focus on telling yourself.

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength! – Philippians 4:13

Whatever your “I’m not good enough is” pinky promise me that you will do it in His strength this week! Deal?

This just occurred to me, I’m feeling like somebody needs to hear this: don’t punish yourself with low expectations because of something you’ve done that makes you feel unworthy of God’s best.

Have you heard that quote, "The things you hide in your heart...eat you alive!"

If this is you today, sweet friend, Jesus offers you the free gift of His grace. There’s nothing you can do to earn it, you just have to accept it. He bore all of your and my sin, and died on the cross so we could live free in Him.

I want you to feel His love.

Have you heard "Known" by Tauren Wells? Listen, here.

You see right through the mess inside me

And you call me out to pull me in

You tell me I can start again

And I don't need to keep on hiding

I'm fully known and loved by You

You won't let go no matter what I do

And it's not one or the other

It's hard truth and ridiculous grace

To be known fully known and loved by You

God loves us so much! Okay...

Prayer

Dear God,

Only you know what stands between where we are and where we want to be. You see it all, and you love us through. Father, lead us in these moments and elevate us out of the same old same old choices. Help us live for you free and unashamed, carrying out your will, and bringing you glory. I also want to thank you for this podcast, where you helped me trade, I’m not good enough for – I can do all things in Christ.

I’m so grateful for a way to connect with women and bring them your truth.

Fitness can be a very confusing space, so Lord guide us in our food choices and our fitness motivation, because our goal is to make you 1st in every part of our lives.

In Jesus' name, amen.

Faith Fuel

When my daughter was in Kindergarten, they all learned this scripture, so every time a parent would come in all of the children would stand up and say Numbers 6:24-26:

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

This is my hope for you today!

Now you know I'm never going to leave you without asking you to get into action, because nothing happened without it!
