Looking at Robyn Frandrup you would never know all she’s been through. Not only has she completely transformed herself on the outside, but on the inside she is pure gold. Always positive and ready to help someone else achieve their weight loss goals, Robyn is a fighter! When her son Aidan was born with a rare kidney disease, she completely lost herself. Living on auto pilot, it was a few years before Aidan was showing a promising recovery. When Aidan finally seemed okay, Robyn realized, she was not. She says, “After I got over my pity party about my body, I decided it was time to get serious and get into the best shape of my life, not only for me, but for my son as well.” Join me in celebrating an incredible journey toward health for all the right reasons, our children! Thank you Robyn for your courage and dedication, you are proof that anything is possible with hard work.

Kim: Share a little about you.

Robyn: My name is Robyn Frandrup, and I live in a small town in Minnesota. I have a five-year-old son named Aidan.

Kim: Have you gone through a transformation?

Robyn: When I became pregnant with my son, we knew immediately there were problems. With a complicated pregnancy, an early delivery, and an eighty pound weight gain for myself, we found my son was born with a rare kidney disease. I was exhausted and scared most days, not knowing any longer how to do anything but stay on autopilot as supermom, putting Aidan’s needs before everything, including my health. After a couple turbulent years, Aidan’s disease has began to be more stable, and he is the happiest boy! The problem was, I wasn’t happy with myself. I had let myself go, eating bad foods and rarely working out. After I got over my pity party about my body, I decided it was time to get serious and get into the best shape of my life, not only for me, but for my son as well.

Kim: How did you get your body back post-baby?

Robyn: Playing rugby in high school helped me learn good ways to exercise and maximize results, but I still had to learn how to eat right. I started on a good routine of cardio and strength training, and slowly started adding more and more healthy meals into my daily life, and also learned that I needed to eat MORE to keep up with the workouts I was doing! Eventually I began a complete nutrition program, which changed my life and my body drastically! Not only was I shedding fat and building muscle like crazy, but I suddenly was surrounded by the most positive and motivated people I have ever met! Having a good nutrition plan and a fantastic support system has made all the difference in my body and in my daily life. I now look forward to cooking healthy meals, fun and invigorating workouts, and spending time with some of the greatest people I have ever had the blessing to meet.

Kim: Anything you’ve accomplished you would like to share?

Robyn: I have lost all of my ‘baby weight’ and then some, and have gained so much strength and muscle! I love how strong I feel now! I am now working as a consultant and a coach for an amazing nutrition company, and helping others reach their personal goals, which for me is the greatest thing I could’ve ever imagined spending my life doing. I love seeing the amazing transformations, and I love being a support for others who were in my position of wanting to change their life. I’m currently getting my degree in health and fitness, getting my personal training certification, and plan on doing a figure competition in 2012! January is my final push to maximize my results, and I’m so excited to reach my next goal!

Kim: What is your favorite fit-mom, fit-family meal? Snack? Any go to items?

Robyn: I love trying new recipes every week, and switching things up so I don’t get bored! I learned that I absolutely LOVE vegetables, every single one! I love making swordfish on the grill, and love it with a side of garlic, mushrooms, spinach, and onions sautéed with extra virgin olive oil, topped with freshly squeezed lemon and a little salt and pepper! I always keep healthy snacks on me, whether it be almonds, carrot sticks, or a protein bar, I make sure I’m grabbing something healthy to snack on when I need to.

Kim: Favorite Fit-Family activity?

Robyn: I love going to the beach with Aidan during the summer, and since he’ll be getting a bike for his birthday this year (sshhhh!) I look forward to plenty of bike rides together! And by summer Aidan will be enrolled in swimming and tumbling, and I will be doing adult gymnastics myself! I look forward to many years of healthy living with my wonderful son!

Kim: How do you stay fit amidst a hectic schedule and manage to do it all?

Robyn: I make sure I schedule my workouts every single day, sometimes twice a day. Its my ‘me’ time, and I make it a priority in my daily life so I carry out my day with a healthy mentality and lots of energy! Taking the time for yourself is not just important, it’s a necessity for moms (and dads too)! I also keep a motivation board and motivational quotes posted all over, they are a good reminder of your goals and dreams!

Kim: Words of motivation and inspiration for other moms?

Robyn: You make a choice every morning when you get up on how your day will go. Own each day and start it with happiness, health, and love, and carrying that feeling with you all day long. I try to take a mental check each hour to be thankful for something in that moment, even it is as simple as ‘the sun is shining’ or ‘the person I passed in the store greeted me with a kind smile’. Choose to make every day of your life better than the one before it, and to live every single day with a positive attitude that you share with others every chance you get. Happiness is infectious!!! You deserve to live a life full of all the joy in the world!
