Francisca Dennis is a mother of 6 children! If you look up the word inspiration in the dictionary, you will find her beautiful face there. As an author, athlete, competitor,  mother, and popular cover girl, Francisca powerfully illustrates what can be achieved with dedication and hard work. Her new book

“Soul Principles, 6 simple steps to a whole new you”

was written to shed insight on the common issues women face and how to overcome them. Francisca is a role model to women, and she truly leads by example. I’m honored she took the time to share her amazing story. Thank you, Francisca.

Kim: Share a little about you.

My name is Francisca Dennis. I live in Ontario, Canada. I have 6 Children –

3 Girls, 3 Boys-ages 24,19,18,16,11&9.

Kim: Have you gone through a transformation?

Francisca: I did go through a transformation, but it was during the latter part of my journey of having my large wonderful family. I had always been athletic and ran a lot in my twenty’s. With quick meals on the go- not the healthiest choices- and many skipped meals… (did someone say nap??) I had a skinny-fat none shapely body. I tried to gain weight over the years, But found it wasnt until I learned how to properly fuel and resistance train that my body composition changed.

Kim:  How did you get your body back post-baby?

Francisca: I had never struggled with losing baby weight. During my pregnancies I maintained a healthy weight gain of 25lbs on average and continued to run and train throughout all of them.
Because of this, I think my entire pregnancy experience- labour/delivery and postpardum were all awesome experiences!… I guess that’s why I did it 6 times 😉

Kim: Anything you’ve accomplished you would like to share?

Francisca: I’m really proud of my first book called:“Soul Principles, 6 simple steps to a whole new you.”In it I look at some of the common stumbling blocks that we as women often put in our own way and examine strategies to overcome these mind ruts to help us achieve our goals in fitness and in life.
 It’s available on my website.

I am a Lifestyle consultant and fitness coach as well as a Fitness model/ competitor…(and proud fellow Oxygen magazine Cover girl)!!
When I’m not writing, training, meeting with clients or running one of my kids forgotten assignments or lunches to their school…
I’m running my own online business called FDLifestyle

Kim: What is your favorite fit-mom, fit-family meal? Snack? Any go to items?

Francisca: I make a Tofu salad that my kids can’t get enough of believe it or not! Lots of marinated grilled tofu with Romaine/tomatoes/hummus/sprouts with brown rice, balsamic vinaigrette and fresh lemon juice… I serve it with whole grain pita wedges and it’s devoured in minutes! I always have natural Almonds out and a big fruit bowl. I find if you make the good stuff available to them easily; they WILL eat it!

Kim: Favorite Fit-Family activity?

Francisca: We love going for hikes!

Kim: How do you stay fit amidst a hectic schedule and manage to do it all?

Francisca: The only way I can manage is scheduling my training first thing in the morning before anything can get in the way. Planning is essential always! I typically do a bulk cook day once a week to try to maintain my regular clean meals throughout the week when my schedule can get packed.

Kim: Words of motivation and inspiration for other moms?

Francisca: It can be tough when you’re in the heart of the “mommy I neeeeed you” phase. But don’t get discouraged.

Here are my mama rules!

* Throw away your scale
*It’s ok if you skip a workout once in a while!!
* No Guilt…and no negative self talk!!
* Always make YOU time (and that doesn’t have to mean gym time)..take a walk, meditate, take a long bath.. read a book… grab a coffee with a friend etc.

If you’re not looking after yourself, you will have less patience, energy with your family.
