Ingrid Romero is as hard-working as she is beautiful. This 3X Overall NPC Bikini Champion, Arnold Bikini Champion, Fitness Model and Team Edge Coach is a fighter, and her little boys Gianni and Nicco are too! It’s easy to look at Ingrid and think she’s always been in shape and life is easy, but she has been overweight and had to work hard to get fit and healthy. Ingrid shares how she once weighed over 180 pounds, and the painful experience of recently having her twin babies prematurely. Kim: Share a little about you.

Ingrid: My name is Ingrid Romero. Originally from Barcelona, Spain. I have moved around a bit, living in 5 different countries. (Spain, England, Ireland, Mexico and now my permanent home here in the States). I am currently living in Los Angles, Ca where I am a fulltime model and Professional Bikini Competitor. I recently gave birth to Twin baby boys ( Nicco & Gianni ). They were born prematurely at 28 weeks and spent 52 days in the NICU ( neonatal intensive care unit ) They were born on April 6th and have been home for a little over a week now. This by far the hardest thing I have ever dealt with. Giving birth to my babies at 28 weeks was very scary. Not knowing if they would be okay was painful, but they are fighters and are doing great!

Kim: Have you gone through a transformation?

Ingrid: I have actually gone through a few transformations 🙂 A few years ago I weighed 185 pounds. It wasn’t until I moved to Mexico and then the U.S when I found fitness and a healthy lifestyle. I am currently in the process of getting my shape back after gaining 40 pounds with my twins. It has been 8 weeks and I have lost about 32 pounds of my baby weight.

Kim: How did you get your body back post-baby?

Ingrid: In my experience I feel it had a lot to do with the shape I was in before I got pregnant. I was in the best shape of my life. I actually competed when I was 2 months pregnant not having any Idea that I was pregnant.
While pregnant I made sure I ate very healthy.. Of course I had cravings but I didn’t let the fact of me being pregnant give me the okay to eat whatever I wanted. I wasn’t able to train much at all as I was a high risk pregnancy and got put on bed rest. So I had to make sure I didn’t blow it to bad on my food. I made sure I made the appropriate changes in nutrients for the babies but for the most part I maintained my normal diet.

Kim: Anything you’ve accomplished you would like to share?

Ingrid: Being a mother has been my biggest accomplishment. There is no feeling in the world like holding your babies.. I have accomplished a lot in the fitness industry but it doesn’t compare to this new chapter in my life. I am very excited to join amazing women like Kim in the fit moms club 🙂

 Kim: What is your favorite fit-mom, fit-family meal? Snack? Any go to items?

Ingrid: Well my baby boys are just home and they are still only drinking milk and formula. As for myself time is very limited so it’s all about preparation with your meals. I prepare all my meals in the morning and heat it up when its time to eat. So as of right now there is nothing very glamorous in my kitchen LOL!!!!

Kim: Favorite Fit-Family activity?

Ingrid: I love taking my babies for a walk in their stroller. It is so relaxing and the fresh air is great for them. I love the outdoors so as soon as they are old enough there will be plenty of activities going on. Hikes, bike riding etc…

Kim: How do you stay fit amidst a hectic schedule and manage to do it all?

Ingrid: PLAN PLAN PLAN!!!! It’s all about preparation and having a goal. When I got pregnant I had so many people tell me my body would never be the same. I look at Women like you Kim, and so many other fit moms out there and it just gives me the motivation to work hard. It isn’t easy. Feeding my boys every three hours and trying to feed myself and find time for the gym. But when there is a will there is a way..

Kim: Words of motivation and inspiration for other moms?

Ingrid: “Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win!… So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing.” 1 Corinthians 9:24, 26
