Juggling three children, a new business, and a nonstop life, she doesn’t make excuses and she doesn’t waste time being stressed. Her lighthearted spirit and love for life are evident in all she touches. Carol experienced a dramatic and inspirational transformation that was built on a solid foundation of sound nutritional commitments and a passion for exercise. Kim: Share a little about you. Name, City, and children’s ages and names.
Carol: My name is Carol Lama, I am 41 1/2 and I have 3 children

We live in Toronto Canada.
Kim: Have you gone through a transformation?
Carol: OMG yes…. complete… I was not happy in my post baby body and had no idea that I would end up where I am now:) I was lost in my body… never really struggled when I was younger… but fully lost track of everything when I gave my all to my kids… I refused to give up though… I knew that was not me … and I wanted to still be me… not just “mom”.
Kim: How did you get your body back post-baby?
Carol: I thought about all the quick and “easy” ways.. just wanting to lose 10 pounds before I even stepped in the gym. But I have been a reader of Oxygen since its first issue I knew the truth. Quick and easy would not last.. and I was ready to change for life.
I joined a bootcamp with a group of women in a home. An incredible trainer, Michael Grayer, would come over 3 days a week and kick our butts! It was hell…and I loved it! I went from not finding any time to workout… to arranging my entire days around having to be at that bootcamp. I added 2 extra days of one on one training to really maximize the results… and then I got a meal plan… this is when the real magic happened! I now am so passionate about nutrition and healthy eating because no matter what, you can not out train a bad diet.
I tried for a while..lol… but no such luck!
Kim: Anything you’ve accomplished you would like to share?
Carol: As I write this I can hardly believe the things I will write that I have accomplished. I have competed for the past 3 years in fitness and figure competitions in Canada and the US and I have won or placed very well and many of them! I have also done quite a lot of fitness modelling and appeared in a huge ad campaign for a large chain of gyms. I was featured as a success story in the January 2011 issue of Oxygen magazine…. yes… i was dying! and I have recently shot a few more times for Oxygen for upcoming issues!
Kim: What is your favorite fit-mom, fit-family meal? Snack? Any go to items?
Carol: My fav go to item in natural almonds… my kids love them and they are quick and easy! All my meals are actually fit-family… it is just how my kids have been brought up. Lots of veggies, lean proteins, quinoa… they like to try all the different veggies I grill…
I always ensure they have enough protein so having a stock pile of cooked protein really helps me whip up things quickly! The fav treat right now is taking strawberries, dipping them in vanilla greek yogurt then in a touch of natural brown sugar…. yum:)
Kim: Favorite Fit-Family activity?
Carol: We love to go to the park and do obstacle courses… we time each other and try to beat our last time. We also do a lot on sprint racing.. which is really starting to challenge me as my kids are getting faster! lol Also, I am a huge dancer…. so
We often just have family dance party and put on songs and bust a groove:)
Kim: How do you stay fit amidst a hectic schedule and manage to do it all?
Carol: Funny I should find myself writing this today after my eldest son actually said to me” mom, I am really proud of all you do, and I see why all the other mom’s at school say that they don’t know how you do it all…. but you do, and you do it all well” … xoxoxo The truth is… I don’t have an answer other than It all just has to get done, so it does! I go to the gym at 5 am if I need to, I multi-task like crazy. I am an organized like crazy. But as I am now growing a thriving business as well, I find I need to just organize my days and work on the task at hand.. without being worried about all I have to do. It will get done, and if not, no big deal! My house is not always perfect.. the laundry may stay in the hampers for a few days… but that is ok!
I focus on what needs to get done and the rest just falls as it may. I don’t stress any more… as soon as I gave up the notion of being able to do everything always…. and it’s ok! My kids are my number one, and my health is included in that:)
Kim: Words of motivation and inspiration for other moms?
Carol: Once your lightbulb in your mind has “clicked” it’s on…. you must be ready and committed to change. You are not selfish for wanting to do something for yourself… you deserve some time….find the “me” in TIME! It is there… give it to yourself…. your kids deserve a happy , healthy momma:) you may go up and down hills to get there… but you will get there. And believe me… it is an incredible feeling to know that your kids are proud of you for doing something for yourself. It is setting them up to live their true lives also.
