Trusting God, even when it's hard, changes everything...
Last year was a very hard year for me, I haven’t shared this publicly, but I had to have multiple surgeries. Without going into a lot of detail, the result was a medical malpractice lawsuit.
Faced with a long ugly process, and little, if any reward, I felt God telling me to drop it, to trust Him, and to move on with my life.
The moment I did, the floodgates of clarity, creativity and energy poured in.
God put a new song in my heart and lit a fire in my soul.
The morning after I let it go, while I was in prayer, I felt called to finish a big dream I’d had for years – write a faith and fitness devotional.
With 20 years in the fitness industry, as a cover model, competitor and writer, I wanted to share how complete surrender of my appetite, fitness goals, and body image issues were the gamechanger.
The difference Jesus made in my fitness was a lasting answer, and I’ve wanted to share for years. (to learn more about this, go here.)
So...I woke up every morning with a mind full of words and a heart full of purpose.
The minute I put my fingers on the keyboard, the words poured out.
Isaiah 61:3 sums up my experience perfectly, God gives us beauty for ashes…
God takes our pain, trials and failures and makes something beautiful out of them. Just when it seems impossible or too much to bare, He makes a way and gives you a new start.
>>If that sounds like you today, I pray you’re reinvigorated with hope.<<
Looking back over my life, I see how God is always there growing me Strong through the pain, making me Confident by relying on Him, and reminding me that I am His.
I want to encourage you that listening to God and stepping out in radical faith doesn't mean it’s easy or a perfect journey, and that’s okay. When we show up for Him, He does the rest.
It's scary putting yourself out there, but it’s better than living with regret if you never do.
The mission of Strong. Confident. His. is to make God our source of strength, to seek Him first in our goals, to surrender every aspect of our lives to Him – including our fitness and food issues and confidently see ourselves and our lives through His eyes.
Here’s why I chose:
Strong: When we walk in the Holy Spirit gift of self-control, we have power. Surrendering our lives to Him (including our appetites) and making Him our source of strength is how we live strong from the inside out.
Confident: When we seek Him first in everything and make Him our final authority, we have confidence that our lives are in His hands. We can be confident when we see ourselves, our lives, bodies, hopes, dreams, and our future through HIS eyes.
This confidence is a Christ-centered confidence not a self-centered confidence; it’s complete confidence in who He is not who we are.
His: Means we have chosen to follow Christ. We recognize our need for Him and He gives us everything that matters in return.
>>Here’s a little secret: Strong. Confident. His. is actually the tagline for my new Devotional (coming out soon.)
I thought I’d share a sneak peak…
A Strong. Confident. His. woman looks life in the face and says…
In Jesus, I am unstoppable.
The numbers don’t define me.
I’m not the number sewn in my clothes, the number of candles on my cake, the number of likes or followers I have, the money I make, the zip code I live in, or the number on the scale.
I am a unique, one-of-a-kind, God-designed daughter of the King!
When I’m weak, He is my strength.
When I’m broken and defeated, He picks me up.
When I’m rejected, He embraces me.
When I fall, His grace covers me.
When I don’t know what to do, He directs my path.
He dresses me with strength and makes my arms strong.
When I see myself through His eyes, I'm fearless.
He is my Father.
I am His daughter.
He made me to bring Him glory and I will shine for Him.
I am Strong. Confident. His.
