The role of prayer and Scripture in overcoming fitness struggles
“Kim, I really needed this motivation and refocus. I'm enjoying the 7 Wins Bible study online, and hearing your message today just makes win #3 so much more valuable. Lately, I've been frustrated. I'm exercising and eating mostly God-made food, but my waist and thighs are not slimming down. I hear in my head, 'It's probably because I'm in perimenopause,' but I realize that’s probably Satan making me place blame somewhere. After listening to this podcast, I realize that I’m still focusing on the wrong worldly strongholds—I need to focus on Jesus and be grateful that I can play with and babysit my grandkids. I'm praying for the chains of comparison and what the world would say is skinny to be broken. Thank you so much for your dedication to this ministry and following God's leading. I'm so grateful for every single podcast, and I've watched them all!” – Shawn Smith
1. Meditate on Scripture Daily
Start your day with God’s Word. Reflect on Romans 12:2 before your workout and let it guide your mindset.
Tip: Write a verse on a sticky note or save it as your phone wallpaper.
2. Replace Negative Thoughts with God’s Truth
When you think, “I’ll never be good enough,” counter it with Psalm 139:14:
“I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Create a list of affirmations based on Scripture and speak them over yourself.
3. Pray Before You Eat or Exercise
Before a meal: “Lord, thank You for this food. Help me make choices that honor my body.”
Before a workout: “God, give me strength and help me move with gratitude.”
4. Choose a Guiding Word & Scripture for Your Fitness Journey
Pick one word to anchor your mindset for the day. Example: “Grateful” with Psalm 107:1:
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.”
