7 Things Fit Christians Do Every Day! The 7 Ws
W1 - Word
- Scripture: "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." — Psalm 119:105
- How It's Different: In the world, fitness is often rooted in self-centered goals, like achieving a perfect body or chasing trends. As Christians, we start with God’s Word to ground our mindset in truth, seeking His guidance for both our spiritual and physical health.
- Practical Tip: Start each day reading a scripture that speaks to your identity in Christ, reminding you that your worth comes from Him, not from how your body looks.
W2 - Worth
- Scripture: "For you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God in your body." — 1 Corinthians 6:20
- How It's Different: The world tells you that your worth is based on your appearance, weight, or size. But as Christians, our worth is anchored in the fact that we are God’s creation, purchased by His sacrifice. We take care of our bodies not to chase perfection, but to honor the One who made us.
- Practical Tip: Speak life over your body daily—remind yourself that you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).
W3 - Whole God-made Foods
- Scripture: "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." — 1 Corinthians 10:31
- How It's Different: Worldly fitness often promotes restrictive diets or quick fixes, focusing on food as an enemy. But in God’s way, we view food as fuel—nourishment He created for us to thrive. Whole, God-made foods like fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins are His provision for our health.
- Practical Tip: Focus on adding foods that God created to fuel your body well, rather than following restrictive trends that often lead to burnout or obsession.
W4 - Water
- Scripture: "But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst." — John 4:14
- How It's Different: The world often promotes energy drinks, supplements, and other artificial boosters to enhance fitness performance. However, God provides simple, life-giving water to sustain our bodies. Drinking water can be a daily reminder of our dependence on Christ, the Living Water.
- Practical Tip: Make hydration a priority, aiming for a set amount of water each day. With each sip, remind yourself that God refreshes your spirit just as water refreshes your body.
W5 - Workout
- Scripture: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." — Colossians 3:23
- How It's Different: Worldly fitness often puts pressure on performance, perfection, and aesthetics. But working out God’s way is about stewarding the body He’s given you. Every movement becomes an act of worship—whether it’s lifting weights, walking, or stretching.
- Practical Tip: Shift your mindset from “I have to work out” to “I get to work out.” Dedicate your exercise time to God, thanking Him for the strength to move.
W6 - Worship
- Scripture: "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship." — Romans 12:1
- How It's Different: The world separates the spiritual from the physical, but for fit Christians, fitness is an act of worship. We worship God with how we take care of our bodies, which are temples of the Holy Spirit. Fitness isn't just physical—it's about glorifying God in all we do.
- Practical Tip: Incorporate worship into your workouts. Play worship music, listen to a faith-filled podcast, or spend time in prayer during your fitness routine.
W7 - Wake/Sleep Routine
Scripture: "In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety." — Psalm 4:8
- How It's Different: In worldly fitness, sleep is often neglected or sacrificed for early morning gym sessions or late-night productivity. But in God’s design, rest is vital for both our physical and spiritual renewal. A healthy wake-sleep cycle is a form of trust in God, acknowledging that He gives us rest.
- Practical Tip: Establish a consistent bedtime routine, and view your sleep as part of your worship, knowing that God values your rest as much as He values your work.
These 7 W’s form the foundation of a faith-filled fitness journey. Unlike the world’s approach, God’s way is holistic, covering every area of life—body, mind, and spirit.
Fit Christians don’t just focus on the physical. They embrace God’s design in every aspect of their health. Choose one W to focus on today, and let it be your starting point toward living fit God’s way.
