5 Keys To Fat Loss

Chatting with a close friend over the weekend, she said, ”I feel so defeated, no matter what I do my weight is staying the same…what gives?” I know I’ve felt this disappointment, haven’t you? After asking her a bunch of questions, we came to the conclusion her problem was two-fold.

1. She was expecting results too quickly and then giving up…only to start back up again heavier than before.
2. Her heart wasn’t in it.

Eating right and exercising for a short period of time, only to throw in the towel and eat whatever you want will set you back every time. If your relationship with fat loss goals feel like a roller coaster; you are taking one step forward and two steps backwards.
People often ask me how to get in shape, how to lose fat and what the secret is.

The secret is, there is no secret. It’s your choice.
You’re going to have to work out harder than you ever have. You are going to have to eat clean and you’re going to have to do it with an honest commitment for 12 weeks to really see a difference. Ouch! I know this doesn’t sound anything like an infomercial promising 20 pounds in 20 days, but when you put the work in the sense of accomplishment will forever change you and the results are long-lasting.
May I encourage you to answer these five questions and put a date on your goal:

1. Why do I want to lose weight or get fit?
2. What are they major obstacles to my success?
3. How am I going to overcome these obstacles?
4. What am I going to do when I feel like giving up?
5. Why will this be the time I succeed, and when do I expect to meet my goal?

Why is it that one person will achieve their goal and another won’t? What’s the difference? I believe the answer lies in their personal answers to the questions above.

Don’t you think we throw in the towel too quickly? How many times has a plateau frustrated you to the point of giving up? Be more forgiving of yourself. Don’t let one slice of pizza turn into an entire weekend of bad eating. Catch yourself, and begin again, and again and even again.
Resign in your mind. This is your time.

Put your heart in it and make an emotional commitment. Get that date on the calendar and turn your lean dream into your reality.
Always remember you’re only one clean meal or one great workout away from being back on track.

Hello Kim, I know that you started your transformation over 10 years ago. Right now I am about where you were when you started your transformation. It is very hard for me to even image that someday I could look like you. So that I can have hope and realistic expectations, I would really like to know in detail what you did and how long did it take you to get to about what you look like today. It would be encouraging to know. Btw, I am 50 years old…I’m hopeful. Thank you for all you do for healthy moms.

Ok I am permanently disabled in my right ankle and suffered a set back when I broke my toes on my left ankle. I’ve got another 4 weeks until I can get my feet In shoes. My question: can you give me some cardio exercise that would work with my limitations but still get my heart pumped and my core built back and lift my gluts back up. In the gym 4 times a week wast lifestyle doing most challenging p90x. Styles with groups. I scaled back 1 &1/2 ago to Pilates, scaled again to Yoga. With 2 feet broken, yoga doesn’t fit for me. I am now at the equipment. For the arms (arm cycle :). Just to get a hint of endorphins. I walked every morning too before the left foot. Rendered useless in a shoe. Mt biked every week in this weather. Can’t do -needs shoes. You can do this. I’m so certain you have ideas of where I can crutch in snd throw some power into SOMETHING !! Please. Tell an. I will do. Thank you KimmyD

thanks, Kim, for the encouragement! There is no sub for hard, disciplined work. Bad habits are formed, but they can be broken and replaced with beneficial ones in time & with much patience. Thx for being an inspiration to me!
