Why YOU Are All That!

Do you feel good about yourself? Do you think if you were in great shape or lost those last five pounds all this sudden you would be happier? Are you too hard on yourself? For some of us our weight or body image defines us and our happiness is dictated by the number on the scale or what we see in the mirror. The root of the problem is a lack of self-esteem and valuing oneself solely on appearance.

Self-esteem is something people think they can get from the way they look, but self-esteem comes from the inside not the outside. Creating self-esteem comes from honoring your self-made promises. How many times have you said you were going to do something, quit smoking, lose weight and even change your career only to stay in the exact same spot? Our faith in ourselves erodes each time we make those unkept promises.

As a fitness professional, people judge me by the way that I look, and I’ve had times when this was hard on me. My faith immediately corrects this thinking and reminds me that my identity as a person is not based on what I look like. The importance of knowing who you are, and celebrating your strengths and accepting your weaknesses, enables you to enjoy life.

Self-esteem can be found when you accept yourself the way you are, right now, not when this or that happens. Walking around feeling like your less of a person because of the way you look or what you weigh is an outright waste of the precious time God has blessed you with. Have you ever considered, there is only one you, no one can be you and no one can ever take your place? That makes you pretty special! Keep the promises you make to yourself and watch your self-esteem soar.

    Thank You ! I try to keep my spirit up, sometimes the self image thing does eat me up though, so I keep trying & keep training because it makes me feel alot better about myself, gratitude is huge ye!

    That’s great advice, I for one often base my happiness on how i feel i look that day. But I’ll try and keep this in mind. You’re right time is so precious and we shouldn’t wish it away, waiting for a day we’ll feel better. :)

    Thanks for the contact Kim. The last time I saw you, we talked briefly about my weight issue.
    I remember as if it were this morning, you said to me “It’s all about God” that keeps ringing my ear. Some one little thing is in my way and I can’t seem to pass it…… Lost 30lbs
    and feel amazing. Reading your blog really helped and just seeing pics. of you, knowing who you are may be all I needed to proceed. Thanks and keep the incouragement coming.
